David Shofoyeke Becomes Acting DG, NIEPA

The Federal Government has appointed Dr. David Shofoyeke as the Acting Director-General / Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo.

Shofoyeke’s appointment was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Ondo.

According to the statement, the appointment takes effect from 4th August 2023.

Until his appointment, Shofoyeke was the Coordinator of the North Central Zonal office of the Institute.

The new Chief Executive Officer also served as the Head, Training and Research Department of the Institute.

He received many trainings to enhance his capacity in Education Sector Strategic and Operational Planning, Projection and Simulation Model, Education Sector Plan Appraisal, Institutional Development Planning, Policy Formulation, Course Design and Writing, Participatory Mode of Training, Distance Learning, Action Research and Whole School Development through UNESCO IIEP Paris, University of South Africa (UNISA), World Bank Institute, and International Development Partners including (DFID) respectively. 

David Shofoyeke is a consultant to the World Bank on Global Partnership on Education (GPE); UNICEF on Education Sector and Operational Planning, Local Education Strategic Operational Plan (LESOP), and Medium Term Basic Education Strategic Plan (MTBESP); Federal Ministry of Education on Review of National Policy on NEMIS, National policy on Violence free-school for children in Nigeria; and many states on Education Sector and Operational Plans.

Shofoyeke who holds a Ph.D. in Population Education from the University of Ibadan and an M.Ed from the University of Lagos, is a member of many professional bodies including the National Teachers Registration Council (TRCN), National Association of Educational Administration and Planning ({NAEP).

Dr. Shofoyeke, who began his job career at National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in August 2003 as a Training and Research Fellow II and is currently Chief Training and Research Fellow, has over 50 national and international research publications added to his academic portfolio.
