COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF POLYTECHNICS (ASUP), RUGIPO CHAPTER EMERGENCY CONGRESS HELD ON TUESDAY, 8TH AUGUST, 2023 AT ADEKUNLE AJASIN AUDITORIUM, OWO.

Arising from the Emergency Meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, (ASUP) Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Chapter held today, 8th August, 2023 at Adekunle Ajasin Auditorium, Congress resolved as follows:

That ASUP appreciates the timely intervention of government functionaries and other Stakeholders, particularly for facilitating the payment of three (3) out of the thirteen (13) months’ Salary Arrears owed the staff of the institution.

Consequently, ASUP is able and willing to participate in the proposed 1st Semester Examination for the 2022/2023 academic session.

That in reciprocating the good gesture of the intervention of the Stakeholders on one hand and compassionate consideration of the plights of the students on the other, ASUP covenant and assures all Stakeholders of our dedication to quality service delivery always.


ASUP EARNESTLY DEMANDS for a Payment Plan to liquidate the outstanding 10 months’ salary arrears before the end of the first semester 2022/2023 examination otherwise, the Union may be constrained to consider other options in the pursuit of our legitimate demands for the payment of the salaries..

That the Union demands conducive atmosphere for unions to function and function well

That the Union’s participation in the said examination is geared towards promoting a harmonious industrial relationship on campus.

ASUP urge the Management to reciprocate this gesture otherwise, the Congress shall resist any attempt to victimize any member of ASUP in whatever guise on the basis of the struggle for the demand for salaries for the work already done.

That Congress demands for the withdrawal of all queries, accusations and/or threats and discontinuation of all disciplinary measures activated for members of the Union deriving from their involvement in the ongoing struggle of payment of our salary arrears to promote harmonious industrial peace on Campus.
