A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Adeyeri Stephen has advised lawmakers in the state to stop any form of intimidation against the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Adeyeri noted that the allegations levelled against Aiyedatiwa were deliberately fabricated to forcefully kick him out of office.
The Chieftain who wondered why the legislative house would give credence to such “frivolous” allegations, accused the parliamentarians of insincerity.
He therefore warned the Legislators not to indulge in horrendous act capable of breaking the fragile peace of the Sunshine State.
Adeyeri bared his mind in a statement he personally signed on Tuesday and issued to newsmen in Akure, the state capital.
The statement partly read, “apart from my keen observation, news about Governor Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa have continued to surface in Dailies in recent time and this is not too good for our dear State.”
“In a recent development that has sparked controversy and raised questions about political motives, the Ondo State House of Assembly has come under scrutiny for its actions concerning the state’s Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa.”
“Accusations of wrongdoing have been levied against the Deputy Governor, allegedly for the purpose of initiating impeachment proceedings. However, a closer examination of the situation reveals several concerns.
“First and foremost, transparency and due process are essential pillars of democracy. Accusations against public officials, especially those holding high-ranking positions, should be founded on concrete evidence and follow legal procedures. The rush to impeach without thorough investigation can undermine the principles of justice and fairness.”
“Furthermore, the timing of these allegations raises eyebrows. It is crucial to question the motives behind such accusations, especially in the context of political rivalries and power struggles. Accusations against public officials should be free from political influence and based on genuine concerns for the welfare of the state.”
“Public trust in government institutions is vital for a functioning democracy. When accusations are made without proper justification or political bias is suspected, it can erode confidence in these institutions and lead to a crisis of governance.”
“Sadly, the State Assembly which is somewhat saddled to rightly meddle in the ongoing feud between the Governor and his Deputy has escalated the saga with frivolous allegations levelled against Aiyedatiwa.”
“They said he purchased N300m SUV armoured vehicle, why can’t they make known the document with which he used government fund to procure the vehicle, if truly he bought the vehicle”
“In conclusion, the Ondo State House of Assembly’s accusations against Deputy Governor Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa require careful scrutiny and adherence to legal processes.
