The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council has cautioned public and private companies in the state against any form of attacks/blackmail against journalists in the course of doing their professional jobs.

Olaoluwa Meshack, State Secretary of the Union in a statement on Wednesday specifically warned a waste management company in the State, ZLGA, for tagging a senior journalist, Ebenezer Adeniyan as fake.

Adeniyan had recently did a special report calling out the company over the incessant state of wastes that had dotted the nooks and crannies of Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

The NUJ subsequently gave the waste company 24hours ultimatum to pull down the social media post “FAKE JOURNALIST” against Prince Adeniyan who had served as the State Secretary & National Ex-officio of our union before now.

“We want to place on record that one of our Senior members, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, is a qualified and well-experienced Senior Journalist and not a FAKE JOURNALIST.

“The waste management company’s post on Ebenezer Adeniyan is unacceptable and condemnable, just as we are demanding public apology from the company,” the statement read.
