… Institution Mourns the Passing of Visitor, Describing His Death as a Great Loss to the Varsity Community

The Governing Council and the Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, have extended their condolences to the family of the late Governor of Ondo State and Visitor to the Institution, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, who passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

During a condolence visit to the late Governor’s family by members of the AAUA Governing Council and top Management staff on Sunday, December 31, 2023, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, in a somber statement, expressed heartfelt condolences on the untimely death of Arakunrin Akeredolu, describing his passing as a significant loss to the University Community.

Prof. Ige said, “On behalf of the Governing Council, Staff, and Students of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, the University Management expresses its condolences to the entire family of our Late Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi AKEREDOLU SAN, CON.

“Arakunrin was a forthright, courageous, and innovative leader whose invaluable ideas and decisions at critical times had helped to steer the administration of the University in the last few years. His consistent commitment and support to the growth and development of the University had fostered stability in the system and enhanced the credibility of the academic programmes in a way that we cannot easily forget.

“An astute democrat and a brave leader, he had never wavered in his determination and commitment to do what is just and good for humanity. Undoubtedly, his passing at this time is a painful experience and a great loss to the University community, the good people of Ondo State, and Nigeria in general. We will miss his lofty ideals, his clear conscience, and his infectious sincerity.

“While we express our condolences to the entire respected family at this challenging time, our thoughts are with his loving wife, Arabirin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu. It is our prayer that the good Lord grant her and the family the fortitude and the strength to deal with this great loss. May the Lord, in His infinite mercies, grant His Excellency eternal rest and place his soul where the righteous rest.”
