As the Super Eagles of Nigeria begin their campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, a member of the 2013 winning team, Godfrey Oboabona has charged the team not to disappoint soccer loving Nigerians.
Oboabona who was part of the Eagles team that conquered Africa in South Africa under the tutelage of late Coach Stephen Keshi, urged the Eagles to put smiles of the faces of millions of football followers by repeating the feat of 2013.
The former captain of Sunshine Stars and Dinamo Batumi of Georgia who described the present crop of players in the current team as talented, appealed to them to put the nation first and play for the badge.
The former player of HNK Gorica in Croatia, urged all soccer loving Nigerians to give maximum and adequate support to the team.
Oboabona who was formerly on the payroll of Al- Ahli in Saudi Arabia and Caykur Rizespor of Turkey, said the support of the Nigerians will be key for the Eagles to achieve success in Ivory coast.
Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January, 14, 2024 in her opening match of the competition.
