The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Working Committee has unanimously approved the 20-man committee set up at Akoko North East/ Akoko North West Federal Constituency to nominate a consensus candidate for the purposes of the forthcoming bye-election.
Kennedy Peretei, State Publicity Secretary, PDP Ondo State in a statement on Sunday disclosed that the decision was agreed upon at a joint meeting of the SWC and six of the aspirants who earlier indicated interest to participate in the bye-election.
“It was resolved that the 20-man committee report which rated Olalekan Bada as number one should be sponsored by the party for the bye-election that comes up in February, 2023.
“Our party believes that, we should profit from our own experience in which the nomination process to replace Hon Omolafe Adedayo (aka Expensive) ended in a rancorous primary election that badly fragmented our party in Akure North/ Akure South.
“Party leaders in Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency should rally support for the party candidate and ensure that our party becomes victorious in the bye-election,” the statement read.
