The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday commenced campaign for the forthcoming House of Representatives bye-election in Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal constituency in Okeagbe Akoko.
The flag off rally which was organized for members of the party in Okeagbe ward 3 and Oyin/Oge ward 3 had party leaders across the local government in attendance.
Declaring the campaign open, Chairman of the party in the local government, Kehinde Obanla noted that the party has presented the best candidate for the bye election.
According to him, “The former occupier of the seat, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has laid a strong foundation of development in the Federal constituency, it is time for a capable hand to continue the work. Ife Ehindero is our candidate and we plead with our leaders to support him.”
The Chairman of the Campaign Council, Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla also plead with the party leaders to rally round the candidate of the party, stressing the importance of having a capable hand to continue the good work of the former occupier of the office, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. According to him, the only agenda the people are ready to listen to is the consolidation agenda.

The candidate of the party in the constituency while addressing members of the party present at the rally promised to live up to expectations if elected to represent the constituency.
The 38 years old consultant appreciated the party leaders for trusting him to be the flag bearer of the party for the February 3rd bye election.
He said, “To be the flag bearer of the largest political party in Africa and the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress is a huge responsibility and I appreciate the party leaders for trusting me with such enormous task.
“Our leader, Honourable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has laid a solid foundation and it is important we consolidate on his indelible achievements.
“I know what is at stake here. Our people are now familiar with what an effective representation should be and I am ready to renew their hope.”
The Director General of the Campaign, Comrade Adeyanju pleads with party members to take the gospel of consolidation agenda to the doorsteps of constituents. He noted that the party believes in the one man, one vote status of democracy.
Hundreds Of PDP Members Dump Party, Join APC In Akoko
257 members of the opposition party, the People Democratic party (PDP) have dumped the party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress in Akoko North West local government area of Ondo state.
Leading the defectors into the party, Mr. Ibrahim condemned the lack of coordination and unity in the PDP. According to him, the crisis in the PDP contributed to their reasons to dump the party.
Ibrahim also noted that the performance of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior was also a factor that attracted them to the party.
While receiving the new members, the party Chairman in Akoko North West local government, Kehinde Obanla praised the defectors for their courage and foresight. He assured them that they will enjoy being a member of the party.
