Ondo CAN Visits Aiyedatiwa, Says He Has Started Well

Leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ondo State chapter, on Tuesday visited the State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to offer special prayers for the success of his administration.

Reverend Anselm Olorunfemi Ologunwa, the Chairman of CAN, led the delegation of the Christian leaders in expressing their appreciation for the governor’s prompt attention to critical issues affecting the State.

They commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his swift actions since assuming office, acknowledging improvements ranging from infrastructure, sanitation to addressing salary arrears of civil servants.

They extended heartfelt condolences on the passing of former Governor, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, recognizing his contributions to the state’s development.

The Christian leaders congratulated the Governor on his inauguration, expressing optimism that his leadership would bring positive changes to the State.

The Christian association pledged spiritual and moral support for the success of the administration, emphasizing the importance of prayerful solidarity as the new year unfolds.

The association expressed gratitude for the repair of their bus and highlighted some challenges and requests, including the need for an ecumenical center with facilities such as a church, auditorium, museum, secretariat, parking spaces, garden, and hostel. They sought the governor’s personal involvement in securing land for this purpose.

Additionally, CAN urged urgent attention to the agricultural, educational, and health sectors, as well as continuation of the return of schools to churches.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his response, expressed gratitude to the Christian leaders for their visit and unwavering support during this challenging time.

The governor acknowledged the impact of the prayers offered by the Christian community, both during the tenure of the late Governor Akeredolu and in the current administration.

Reflecting on the late governor’s legacy, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted Akeredolu’s significant contributions across various sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, and the establishment of the Amotekun security outfit.

Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed the upcoming burial arrangements for the late governor, promising the government’s full involvement to ensure a befitting state burial, including active participation in the planned crusade by the Christian body.

Responding to CAN’s requests, the governor welcomed the proposal for an ecumenical center and urged the association to submit a formal letter specifying a central location. He assured that the government would facilitate the acquisition of the land.

Concerning food security and insecurity affecting farmers, Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the existing security challenges but affirmed a continuous efforts to enhance security measures. He emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for farmers to cultivate, ensuring adequate food supply for the state.

Regarding the return of public schools to former owners, the governor promissed to examine the proposal to ensure that any changes would not compromise the quality of education provided.

Governor Aiyedatiwa provided reassurance on the shortage of health workers, confirming ongoing recruitment efforts.
