Allen Sowore, a former aide to the Late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Sowore, who is until his resignation was an aide to ex Ondo deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, cited the current internal crisis in the PDP, as reason for quitting the party.

He did not state in the letter the party he is heading to.

However, some believed that Sowore will be heading back to the APC, since he was very vocal and supportive of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa during the political tussle between him and late Governor Akeredolu.

Sowore was initially in the APC alongside Mr Ajayi, whom he worked with during the former’s time as deputy Governor, having been seconded to the latter’s office from the office of late Governor Akeredolu.

Ajayi who fell out with Akeredolu during the end of the administration’s first term in 2020, had taken some of his aides, Sowore inclusive to the PDP.

Below is the full text of Sowore’s resignation letter.

Sir,

Resignation of Membership from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

I am writing to formally resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This decision comes as a precursor to the upcoming off-cycle election in Ondo State.

After careful consideration, I believe it is time for a change in my political direction. This change is largely motivated by the persistent internal disputes within the PDP, which I find increasingly concerning.

I appreciate your understanding and support regarding this decision. Thank you for the opportunities and experiences I have gained during my time with the party.

Yours faithfully,

Allen Sowore Esq
