Tinubu In Ondo: President Visits Owo Monarch; Widow Of Late Governor Akeredolu, Betty; Afenifere Leader, Fasoranti (Photos)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday visited the ancient town of Owo to commiserate with the people over the death of the former Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.

The President visited the Palace of the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, where he was received by prominent traditional rulers in the State.

Tinubu said the void left by the departed former Governor will be difficult to fill, adding that his legacy will endure forever.

Tinubu said it is honourable to depart the world when the ovation is loudest.

According to him: “This sentiment should inspire us to live each day with purpose, to pursue our goals with determination, and to leave behind a legacy that will be remembered fondly by those whose lives we have touched.”

The President acknowledged the courage and fearless nature of the late Akeredolu especially his passion for good governance.

“He truly embodied courage and fearlessness, especially in his relentless pursuit for good governance. I can only describe him as a fearless fighter, his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people and his courageous nature will always be remembered”, he said.

The Olowo, Oba Ogunoye, conveyed heartfelt appreciation of the entire Owo community to the President and his entourage for his visit.

The monarch extended his gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa, acknowledging and commending the governor’s significant efforts in giving a fitting and respectful burial ceremony to the late Akeredolu.

Others in attendance at the palace included the Deputy Governor, Chief Olayide Adelami, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Olamide Oladiji, Chief of Staff to the governor, and Prince Segun Omojuwa.

The President, accompanied by Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Pius Akinyelure, also visited the residence of the late Akeredolu, where he met with his widow, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu and other members of the family.

The President was later led by Mrs Akeredolu to visit where the late former Governor was laid to rest near the residence.

Meanwhile, the President later paid a visit to the National Leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and other chieftains of the group, in Akure.

During the visit at Fasoranti’s residence, President Tinubu said his administration would fix various challenges facing the country including the issue of hardship.
