Hundreds of underprivileged Muslim families in Ondo state benefitted from a special end of Ramadan giveaway in form of 10 kilogramme bag of rice per household.

The chairman, Ondo State Council For Islamic Affairs (ODSCIA), Imam Habibullahi Akinpelumi while expressing gratitude to the donor for the kind gesture, noted that 10,000 bags of rice, were allocated for Muslims in Ondo state, courtesy of the Dangote Foundation.

Akinpelumi who doubles as the Chief Imam of Araromi Obu said notable Muslim organisations such as NASFAT, NACOMYO, Ansarudeen, FOMWAN, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria MSSN among others were used to coordinate the distribution of the grains, so as to reach intended destination across the 18 local government areas.

While lauding the transparency in distribution of the food items under the auspices of Ondo State Muslim Welfare Board, a designated NGO and staff of the donor, the beneficiaries urged other affluent Muslims to emulate the selfless act of charity most especially during economic challenges.

The Chief Imam of Supare Akoko and Secretary, League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo State, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Akerele, and NACOMYO state coordinator, Mallam Dayo Ogunmola Muhammed and other recipients, admitted that reaching out to the poor and needy is a disappearing culture among Muslims, which needed to be revived as a matter of urgency, just as they thanked Dangote Foundation, the charity arm of the Dangote group of companies for the initiative.
