Ondo Commissioner, Sowore Bags Southwest Heralds Magazine’s Excellence Award

For his exceptional service to humanity, the Ondo State Commissioner for Lands & Housing, Akogun Akinwunmi Sowore was on Sunday, awarded Southwest Heralds Magazine’s Excellence Service Award.

He was honoured alongside other eminent Nigerians at the 2024 Public Lecture & Award ceremony held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Responding shortly after being conferred with the honour, Akogun Sowore appreciated the media outfit for deeming it fit to honour him just as he affirmed that the award will spur him to do more for humanity.

Akogun Sowore who further assured that he will continue in the path of excellent service which has remained the hallmark of his public service over the years, also restated the commitment of Ondo State Governor to ensuring affordable home ownership for the people of the state.

In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu extended congratulations to all the awardees.

He also commended the media outfit for being the voice to the voiceless and the bridge between the government and the governed.

Particularly, he underscored the need for restructuring as a panacea to attaining good governance in the country at large.

The lecture of the event was delivered by Dr. Olugbenga Abimbola, Head of Department, Mass Communication, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko on “Ondo 2024: Preparation & Priorities for Electoral Integrity & Inclusion”.

Dr. Abimbola in his lecture reinforced the need for the electoral processes to pass integrity test and be all inclusive among others.

The climax of the event however is the official unveiling of the special edition of the magazine as well as the presentation of awards to recipients.

Earlier in his address, the Publisher of Southwest Heralds Magazine, Mr. Tayo Adu said the event is yet another opportunity to address key issues and as well honour outstanding personalities who have in no small measure contributed to the development of the state.
