The National Orientation Agency has started sensitizing Nigerian citizens and those in power on proposed unveiling of the National Values Charter which will serve as a Blueprint for promoting core values that will guide the actions and decisions of Nigerians.

The Ondo State Director of National Orientation Agency, Mr. James Adekunle made this known at a press conference in Akure.

Mr. Adekunle said the National identity project becomes highly important to redirect all Nigerians, irrespective of class, ethnicity, and religion to ideals and values for which we were traditionally known and used to build our societies.

He added that the National Value Charter is a mutual commitment of the country and citizens to the national cause whereby government at all levels must fulfill its promises in return for commitments from citizens.

“The charter is embedded in the ‘Nigeria Promise’ and the ‘Citizens code’ which is a set of seven promises of the country to her citizens and a set of seven obligations of the citizens to the country “, Mr James Adekunle added.

On the National Anthem, the Director General said the Federal Council has approved that the first stanza of the National Anthem should be rendered at all official Functions. He therefore urged all citizens to familiarize themselves with the correct lyrics and embrace this and other national symbols of our national identity.

Mr Adekunle also called on citizens to be patient with the initiatives and economy reform of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.

“In its drive to transform the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, the present federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a number if initiatives that will certainly improve the quality of life and foster a sense of unity and pride among citizens.”

On the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, Mr James Adekunle pointed out that the agency is committed to empowering Ondo State citizens with the knowledge to make informed decisions and exercise their civic rights in a peaceful atmosphere towards shaping the future of Ondo State.

He however called on all stakeholders across the State to partner with the agency in promoting these initiatives.
