The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State Chapter, on Friday saluted the state house of assembly for rejecting 487,437 billion naira supplementary budget requested for by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, State Publicity Secretary, PDP, Ondo State in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure, noted that the amendment bill, coming barely a month to the Governorship election in the State, is a decoy to mobilise funds to prosecute the governorship election.
“Having failed tragically in all areas of governance to deliver the dividends of democracy, after being in office as governor for ten months, our party wishes to admonish the Governor and his appointees to be accountable and use the remaining few months of their tenure to make life more meaningful for the people of the State,” the statement admonished.
Report says the assembly rejected the bill having been worried by the less than 20% implementation of the 2024 Appropriation Act.
It was further gathered that the legislators requested that, the Commissioner of Finance, Mrs Omowumi Isaac, appeared at Plenary on Thursday, 10th October, 2024 at 10.00 am to explain to them, grey areas of the bill.
On the appointed date, (yesterday), the Commissioner did not only decline the invitation, she refused to state when she will honour the legislators with her presence at the hallowed chambers.
This made the assembly to threatened to issue a bench warrant on Mrs Isaac.
