Three notable Nigerians who have contributed to the development of the country are to be honoured at the 14th convocation of Achievers University, Owo.
This is contained in the official lineup of events for the 14th convocation of the institution, which was obtained by Precision Online Newspaper.
The institution will at the event conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Mohammed Umar Bago, Governor of Niger State; Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Osun State and Dr Fidelis Ayebae, Managing Director, Fidson Healthcare PLC, Lagos State.
Meanwhile, former speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara will also during the ceremony, perform the foundation laying & launching of the Yakubu Dogara Institute of Legal and Democratic Studies (YaDILDS) at Achievers University.
Hon. Dogara, who is also the Chancellor of the University is expected to grace the turning of sod of the institute ahead of the convocation of the University on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The institute when fully actualised, is expected to serve as a capacity-building agency to legal and democratic institutions in the country and beyond.
Other activities lineup for the 14th convocation ceremonies spanning from 9th to 15th December, 2024, is a press conference by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, on Monday 9th December.
On Tuesday 10th December, the graduating nursing students will be inducted into the nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria.
On Wednesday 11th December, the induction ceremonies for the College of Engineering and Public Health will follow. A convocation football match is expected to take place later on the day.Buy vitamins and supplements
On Thursday 12th December, the Medical Laboratory Scientists induction ceremony will take place, while the convocation lecture and a jumat/thanksgiving service will be held on Friday 13th December. The Variety/Cultural Night comes up on Friday evening.
The convocation proper comes up on Saturday 14th December, when the institution would award degrees to its undergraduate and postgraduate graduands.
On Sunday 15th December, a thanksgiving service will be held at Chapel of Grace and Glory.
Achievers University was established by Dr Bode Ayorinde in 2007 and currently runs 38 programmes, including Mass Communication, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Geology, etc.
