The ancient town of Ikare Akoko is agog with excitement as it prepares to celebrate the 40th coronation anniversary of its revered monarch, Oba (Alhaji) Akadiri Momoh IV (JP, CON), the Olukare of Ikare.
The week-long celebration, which starts today, Monday, December 16th, 2024, promises to be a memorable one, with a rich blend of cultural, educational, and entertaining activities.
According to the Planning Committee, the events lined up for the celebration include:
- Monday, December 16th, 2024: Community walk, prayers, and inauguration of the anniversary celebration at the Olukare’s Palace.
- Tuesday, December 17th, 2024: Environmental sanitation, quiz competition, and the final of the football competition.
- Wednesday, December 18th, 2024: Medical outreach and hunters and culture display at the Olukare’s Palace.
- Thursday, December 19th, 2024: Marathon, public lecture.
- Friday, December 20th, 2024: Conferment of chieftaincy titles on prominent personalities, followed by Jumat service at the Central Mosque.
- Saturday, December 21st, 2024: Grand finale reception and entertainment of guests/ book launch.
- at the Leonon Jubilee High School playing field.
- Sunday, December 22nd, 2024: Thanksgiving service at St. Peters Cathedral, Okoja, Ikare Akoko.
The Olukare of Ikare, Oba (Alhaji) Akadiri Momoh IV (JP, CON), has expressed his gratitude to the people of Ikare Akoko for their support and loyalty over the years.
He has also called on the public to join in the celebration of this milestone anniversary.
