Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Owo, indefinitely.

The curfew is expected to begin at 7PM and end at 6AM on each day

The development follows violent cult clashes and security disturbances in the town in the early hours of Monday, December 6, which led to loss of lives.

The directive contained in a statement signed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan,
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, urged all residents to remain indoors during the curfew.

“Only essential services, such as hospitals, emergency services, and law enforcement, will be exempted from the curfew.

“The Governor has also asked security agencies in the State to enforce the curfew, ensure safety of lives, properties, arrest perpetrators of the violence and restore peace to the community,” the statement read.
