Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa put in all efforts from personal involvement, care, finance and prayers to avert the death of our beloved late Ondo SSG, Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi aka Tuykana, who passed on 4th January, 2025 after receiving treatment in OAUTH due to severe injuries sustained in a ghastly auto crash which happened on 15th December, 2024. May his soul rest in peace!
To give an update of the Ondo State’s Healthcare system and the frantic efforts by His Excellency Gov Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to revamp and overhaul the healthcare system for the good people of the state may be expedient at this time.
In the last 10 months, Ondo State Government has made several efforts to revamp the healthcare system from the modest achievements of previous administrations in Ondo State.
His Excellency Gov (Dr) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has focused his attention on the healthcare delivery of the state. He has been recruiting doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel and other healthcare workers. And the recruitment exercise is still ongoing across all healthcare levels. The restructuring of our Teaching Hospital for optimal service delivery, which is at the concluding stage is a major testament to his commitment.
The administration of Gov (Dr) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has undertaken robust healthcare policies, reforms that includes restructuring of the Teaching Hospital, significant improvement in the welfare of the healthcare workers, launching of the informal sector of the Contributory Health Insurance scheme etc in order to enhance robust health care benefits to the entire populace.
Currently, Ondo State government is already facilitating the acquisition of high-tech diagnostic equipment like CT scan, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and Mammography among others through either direct procurement or via private public partnership.
In addition, the state government has also included in the budget the construction of residential apartments within the confinement of the teaching hospital to house our House Officers & Resident Doctors. These and more are the efforts of Governor (Dr) Lucky Aiyedatiwa to make Ondo state teaching hospital a hub of medical tourism.
It should be noted also that Ondo State Government does not owe any Staff salary. Today, there are computerised insurance health care to over 250,000 residents of Ondo State. We have freshly functional x-ray, ultrasound, echocardigram, Microscopes for Opthalmic operations in Ondo and Akure. Our healthcare system has significantly improved in outlook and organization under our Lucky Governor. We are working to do more. Because Ondo State deserves the very best.
Notably, these excellent efforts by His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa underscore the unwavering commitment and dedication to deliver world class Healthcare services as a vision and fulfillment of campaign promises of the people’s Governor.
Flowing from the above, the Special Adviser on Health to Ondo State Governor Prof. Michael Simidele Odimayo hereby assured the residents of the state to continue in supporting the administration of Gov Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the best in health sector is yet to come. The future is quite bright for the State Health sector.
