The 85th birthday celebration of Lisa Sarun of Okeigbo kingdom, Chief Clement Oluwole Ogunlana was a carnival of sort as the event was graced by people from all walks of life.
The Onosode hall at the international conference centre, University of Ibadan, was filled to capacity as families, friends, acquaintances, associates as well as well-wishers from far and near came to identify with one of their own, a man of the people, community leader, builder of men, helper of destinies and a self made legend whose joy is in lifting others.
Mr Isaac Shorinola set the ball rolling with a huge shower of encomium on
Chief Ogunlana whom he described as a self appointed spokesperson for the voiceless, down trodden and underprivileged members of society.
He noted that many depressed souls have their destinies rewritten to the glory of God due to the sheer intervention of the octogenarian
Invited guests including traditional title holders from Oluoke chiefs in council described him as a man of great wisdom, principled integrity and uncommon love for his place of birth
Sharing the same sentiment, the younger sister to the celebrant, Mrs Kikilomo Adefolalu noted that he had been a source of inspiration to her in the course of her career just like he represented a father figure in the lives of many others lucky enough to come in contact with him
One of the celebrant children Engineer Ayo Ogunlana affirmed that nothing gladden his father’s heart like putting smile on the faces of others especially people who have lost hope of forging ahead with the challenges of life
The young man further explained that his amazing dad has laid a solid foundation for meaningful growth, progress and overall development of his immediate community by prioritizing education as key for present and future generations saying anyone who knows him will readily attest to his pacifist nature as selfless promoter of peace in whatever circumstances
Speaking in the same vein, Dr. Olagoke Festus Olaolu , Chief Clement Oluwole Ogunlana is philanthropist per excellence who assumed the role of father to all serious minded sons and daughters of Okeigbo at home or in the diaspora.
Dr Festus added that chief Ogunlana always loves to see his people at the very top of their chosen career.
He submitted that quite a number of indigenous engineers, doctors, lawyers and many other professionals owe their attainment of blistering careers to his fatherly advice, financial intervention and moral mentorship
In his appreciation speech, Chief Clement Oluwole Ogunlana thanked God for divine mercy upon his journey of life since childhood even as he rededicated himself to serve God, the celebrant also prayed God to continue to increase the guests of the colourful ceremony in health and wisdom.
