Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party Ondo State Chapter has conveyed its heart-felt congratulations to Prince Leke Adegbite who has just been reelected as the Ondo State NUJ Chairman for the second term.
The Party through its Director of Media and Publicity, Leye Igbabo said it is proud of the outstanding achievements of the Chairman in his first term and therefore harbours no scintilla of doubt that his reelection would surely deepen and consolidate the good works he has started.
The party reminded the Chairman that some media quacks are undermining the core duty of journalism as one that should be investigative in nature and unbiased in reportage and now, practically serve as public relations officers to those who have the means to pay for their service.
“As one of the major pillars upon which constitutional democracy rests, being the fourth estate of the realm, our party urges the newly elected Chairman to use his good office to beam searchlight with a view to smoking out these quacks so that our democratic institutions can be strengthened through the input of investigative journalism and unbiased reportage.
“Our Party equally conveys its utmost pleasure to continue to partner with the NUJ executive committee under the astute leadership of Prince Leke Adegbite with the fervent hope that our democracy would yield the expected positive impacts of life abundant to all and sundry.”
