There is crisis in the offing as concerned members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (ASUU-AAUA) chapter, has rejected the leadership of the union led by Dr Simon Ehiabhi.
In a statement signed by the former chairperson of the union, Dr Busuyi Mekusi and made available to The Precision NG in Akure, the ondo state capital, the concerned members noted that the rejection of Dr Ehiabhi led union was borne out of his leadership behaviour laced with personal aggrandisement and ego tripping.
The members warned that henceforth their union dues should not be paid to the Ehiabhi-led executive.

ASUU-AAUA AND THE DICTATORIAL OPPRESSIVE TENDENCIES OF A COMPROMISED LEADERSHIP
Events in AAUA in recent times have been troubling and traumatizing, with conspiracy of silence displacing the courageous reasonableness and ownership of opinions expected from academics, particularly the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), whose leadership in the branch has been compromised by reason of the employment of the wives of the leadership of the Union, most especially the purported Chairperson, Dr. Simon Ehiabhi, into the over-bloated pay roll of the University, in a most contentious manner. The furore surrounding this recruitment is still palpable. It is instructive to note, but painful and disappointing, that when the rules and regulations governing the University were violated in employment and promotion, Dr. Simon Ehiabhi and his lieutenants could commend the former Vice Chancellor and on behalf of ASUU-AAUA promised him support in his future voyage; which is best known to them.
On behalf of Concerned Members of ASUU-AAUA, I attempted to remind the congress of ASUU-AAUA held on Wednesday 22nd January, 2020, of the various violations going on in the University, and the leadership roles expected from ASUU-AAUA, but Dr. Simon Ehiabhi and his secretary in a dictatorial and most repressive manner overruled me, and told me to go to blazes.
It is on this note that I wish to inform members of the public that we the concerned members of ASUU-AAUA vehemently reject the leadership of Dr. Simon Ehiabhi, having demonstrated that the Union could be best used, at this critical point, for personal aggrandisement and ego tripping, having receded into wilful amnesia.
By this release, the University Administration is being called upon not to remit the deductions of members to Dr. Simon Ehiabhi-led executive, until the Union is recovered and retooled for good representation.
The concerned members are also awaiting the interventions of the Union at the zonal and national levels, and may be forced to take more legal steps to arrest the leadership recession in ASUU-AAUA, if the provocations continue.
Dr. Simon Ehiabhi is also warned to desist from issuing unnecessary threats that are capable of jeopardising the safety of individuals and the peace of the University.
Aluta continua!
