Edo To Set Up Hajj Committee And Muslim Welfare Board

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday,
disclosed that his administration would expedite the constitution of a
Hajj Committee and a Muslim Welfare Board to facilitate the creation of a
structure for Muslims intending to travel for the Hajj, this year.

 

He
made this revelation as he broke the Ramadan fast with eminent Edo
Imams at the Government House in Benin City where he also declared that
his government would build a strong and united state, and engender
safety and security to contribute to the economic development of the
state.
Communing
with the religious leaders, he said: “This is a night of fellowship
with our Muslim brothers, as we join them in prayers during this period.
I thank you for taking time out to come and break your fast here in
Government House. We are happy to receive you and we will continue to
join you in prayers. Know that Allah in his infinite mercies will
speedily answer our prayers”.
Meanwhile,
he called on them to pray for the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari,
as well as for the sustenance of the nation’s peace, and above all, for
the continued peace of the state while the Chief Imam of Benin Central
Mosque, Alhaji Abdulfatai Enabulele, thanked the governor for the warm
reception accorded the delegation.
The
religious leader said: “We want to thank you for the food items you
distributed to our Muslim brothers and sisters during this period across
the state. We appeal to you to approve a space for us here in
Government House where we can observe our five times daily prayers.”
Enabulele
also expressed satisfaction with the Obaseki-led administration’s
performance, saying a prayer for the sustenance of development under his
government and for Edo State at large.
