The retirees of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) and MOBIL oil Nigeria (MON) Plc have demanded the company to pay them their entitlements, so as to allow them take proper care of themselves.
The retirees under the aegis of Mobil Annuitant Association of Nigeria (MAAN) through its secretary, Mr Reuben Gbolade Adebanjo, said in view of current trend of cash out payment for Nigerians, the committee was mandated by the General meeting to pursue the cash out issue for all retirees.
“That on October 17, 2017, we wrote to the EFCC to help investigate and ascertain the retirees fund as provided by ESSO Exploration when it merged with the two companies in November, 1999 and set aside the sum of 22.4b and 15.8b Naira respectively for retirees of MPNU and MON PIC.
“All requested information / document by EFCC were promptly forwarded to Mike Adache. That the said money was to be used as separation allowance after
due harmonization which was to be for five consecutive years.”
According to Adebadejo, with the second sale of MON, management of MON ceased to exist. Chairman/Managing Director and Key Managers have retired and have
already been settled; paid off.
“As at now, legally the Chairman/Managing Director can no longer act as authority for MON as he has retired. This is the basic reason we have to approach the Government agency to come to our aid to save the lives of hundreds of people now walloping in abject poverty while some people will be feeding fat on the legitimate
right of the retirees.”
“It will therefore be necessary to go into the Custodian and Fund Administrator’s accounts and review from inception to determine inflows and legitimate outflows and come up with the status as of now,
before the pay-off of the annuitants to enable each person manage his or her funds just as Pencom retirees are enjoying.”
He noted that NIPCO who bought MON has despite several letters written to them
replied to no one. Letters written to them have always seen replied under non-existent Mobil oil Nigeria, letterhead.
“NIPCO has had 10 contacts or communication with the retirees Association.
“Our request for details of the sale/purchase agreement as it relates to retirees has fell on deaf ears as we were told it has nothing to do with us.
“Should there be any areas you still require information to enable you do an in-depth investigation please do not hesitate to request,” the retirees noted.
