Ex Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Saturday said with the right motivation from government, Nigerian engineers will perform excellently in such areas as building and maintenance of roads, refineries and such public infrastructures.
Mimiko while speaking at the investiture of the 17th President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Dr Elizabeth Jumoke Eterigho, in Lagos on Saturday said that the needed competence, creative energy and zeal are all available among Nigerian engineers but that government should motivate, and challenge the technocrats to bring out the best in them for needed national development.
“The right vision, political will, focus and determination of the political elite will be the needed fillip to bring out the best in the nation’s crop of qualified engineers,” Mimiko said
The former Governor congratulated past presidents and the newly inaugurated President for the effort put in place to start and sustain an association to represent women engineers in the country.
“With its teeming members of registered members, APWEN, Mimiko said, is in pole position to recreate the narrative and drive the interest of many more young people into the profession and by implication the development of our country by their practical contributions.”
