The leadership of The Asiwaju Group (TAG) has urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to support the Nigerian Electorate to vote massively for the progressive winning ticket of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima in the 2023 General Elections.

The convener of the leading support group and Nigeria Diaspora Leader, Prince Ade Omole stated this at a media briefing in Abuja, Nigeria on Wednesday, August 17th 2022.

As critical stakeholders in the Nigerian State, Nigerians in the Diaspora possess the requisite resources, skills and funds for the demanding task of consolidating Nigeria’s Profile as a developing Country.

Prince Omole opined that just like he did as Lagos State Governor, a Tinubu-led Cabinet in 2023 would consist of patriotic qualified Nigerians from the Diaspora who would deliver efficiency in Government and proffer answers to the challenges facing the Country.

Nigerians in the Diaspora have a lot to contribute to Nation-building and many would love to return to their homeland to contribute to the transformational Government of an Asiwaju Presidency. Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora would play an active role in this transformation process. Asiwaju Tinubu will identify and engage competent hands in the Diaspora for this task. Asiwaju Tinubu is reputed for using competent and professional hands to get the job done so to speak. The Nigerian Diaspora integration process will not be an exception, Omole said.

Currently, it is estimated that about 17 million Nigerians are in the Diaspora. An appreciable percentage of this figure are qualified professionals plying their trades in Europe, the Americas and other parts of the World. Many of them have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour, and many have reached the fulcrum of their careers and made significant and recognised impacts both in private and Government circles, where they are based.

Data from the World Bank revealed that the Nigerian Diaspora remitted $65.34bn in three years – 2018 ($24.31bn), 2019 ($23.81bn), and 2020 ($17.21bn) – to boost the economic activities in the Country. Comparatively low as it was, the 2020 remittance inflow made up four per cent of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product for that fiscal year.

Nigerians in the Diaspora are expected to bring their global experience to bear and engage in the development of their Fatherland in critical areas including shaping Government Policies and core infrastructural development in the Country. TAG believes a Tinubu Presidency will leverage Nigerians in the Diaspora by putting the right pegs in the right holes.

Prince Omole revealed that a Diaspora town hall conference with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu is in the offing. Tinubu will use the opportunity to engage with progressives in the Diaspora and by extension all Nigerians working fervently for a better Nation. Details of this event will be published soon.

Recall that Asiwaju Tinubu met with Prince Omole and his team prior to the APC Special Convention in June 2022. Asiwaju assured the Team that the Diaspora would not be left behind and advised Nigerians in the Diaspora to get more involved in the efforts to rebuild Nigeria – an acknowledgement of the potential and fundamental role they obviously can play in the quest to move the Country to greater and unprecedented heights.
