Breaking: Niger Shuts Its Airspace As Fears Of Military Intervention By Foreign Powers Heighten

Niger has now closed its airspace, as there are growing concerns foreign powers are planning a military intervention against its territory.

Niger is coming under spotlight after soldiers took over power from Mahmoud Bazoum in a coup late last month.

The US and France are reportedly championing the use of force in Niger to restore Democratic government there.

The ECOWAS which include Nigeria whose President, Bola Tinubu is the Chair, had earlier set today Sunday, August 6, as deadline for the military junta to restore Bazoum as President.

The ECOWAS in the last few hours have however, decided it would pursue negotiations to resolve the crisis in Niger.
