The State Director of Ondo State Directorate of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr James Adekunle has expressed sympathy with the Osemawe of Ondo, Ekimogun Roundtables and the residents of Ondo city over Friday’s devastating flash flood.

This was contained in a statement by the State Director of NOA signed by the Agency’s Public and Media Relations Officer, Ralph Oguntibeju over the weekend.

The NOA boss described the unfortunate incident as a natural disaster and called on the people to take precautionary measures to guide against casualties.

He noted that the Federal Government had earlier warned that 148 local government areas in 31 states were at risk of flooding during the torrential rainfall till month of November. This prediction could be worsened by the opening of the Lagdo Dam in neighbouring Cameroon last week which has been released into River Benue and River Niger.

Mr Adekunle appealed to the people not to be apprehensive as the State government has order immediate intervention and urged those who their houses are in floodplain to relocate to upland and seek information about flood prone zones in the City.

He also advised the residents of the City to create an emergency plan, elevate utilities, know your evacuation route and avoid wading into water during rainfalls.
