A student of the University of Ilesa, Ilesa, Osun State, Miss Christianah Oyindamola Obadare of the Faculty of Education, has been awarded a scholarship grant by the Nigerian Army under the Chief of Army Staff Special Scholarship Scheme.
The official presentation of the scholarship was held on Tuesday, 10th December, 2024, at the 2 Division Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Ojoo, Ibadan, where the General Officer Commanding, Major General O.O. Onubogu, on behalf of the COAS, hosted the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, Ph. D., FCA, Principal Officers of the University, the beneficiary and her parents to a grand reception.
Major General Onubogu disclosed that the scholarship was part of the Nigerian Army’s contributions to the development of quality education in Nigeria and an additional effort to support the initiative of the Federal Government on NELFUND. He urged Christian Obadare to maintain good academic records as the scholarship would be disbursed to her annually until she completes her studies and shall be tied to her continued good academic performance.
The Vice-Chancellor of UNILESA, in his response, commended the Nigerian Army for the well thought-out initiative, which he said would promote academic excellence.
