The reported judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, today, to the effect that INEC should replace the name of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as Ondo State candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 26 governorship election has been said not to be binding on Mr. Eyitayo Jegede.

This is the reaction of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede as contained in a statement issued by his media team.
The statement reads “Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, remains the PDP governorship candidate his is to inform the members of public that the reported Federal High Court Judgement does not and cannot alter validity of the candidature of neither Mr. Eyitayo Olayinka Jegede, flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 election.
Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, was a not a party to the suit and the thus, the said judgement and as such the judgement obtained by the Poroye faction of the party is not binding and cannot.”
Also corroborating this position is the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Okunomo Banji, who said, “Such judgement or ruling, if it ever existed, is appealable with expedition and for want of legal justification shall never stand.
More so, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim who took the case to court is not a registered member of the PDP.

Mr Jimoh Ibrahim is a verified non member of the PDP at any level- ward, local government or State, having openly defected to the Accord Party. His intention to destabilise the party can never be effectual.”
Justice Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, today, had ruled that INEC should replace Eyitayo Jegede, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s candidate for November 26 governorship election.
