Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Ondo State Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), will publish the names of authentic standard bearers of the parties that will contest the November 26, 2016 governorship election in the state.
In a telephone chat with Precision Journos, the Public Relations Officer of INEC in the state, Mr Olabimpe Awoniyi said the exercise is in line with the electoral act which justifies that final names of parties’ standard bearers must be published after correction had been made within 30 days to the election date.

Asked whether the commission has received an official information on the court ruling in a Federal Court in Abuja ordering the commission to replace Mr Eyitayo Jegede with Mr Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP’s standard bearer in the election, Mr Awoniyi said such ruling if any is always directed at INEC’s national body.
According to him, if such judgement exist, the national body of the commission would send the information to the state’s commission for onward implementation.
