The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has paid a visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar and the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.
During the visit, Mr Wike reiterated the need for one Nigeria and cautioned against divisiveness being championed by some groups in the country.
“Count Niger Delta out of agitation to divide Nigeria,” Wike said.
The visit of Mr Wike to the state of the caliphate has been misinterpreted in some quarters who described it has a political move in view of the ongoing misunderstanding between the Governor and some members of the Federal Executive Council most especially his erstwhile political leader, Rotimi Amaechi.
Such claims may however be far from the truth as top politicians in the country were all present in Sokoto during the weekend to grace the wedding ceremony of Governor Tambuwal’s daughter.
