The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on the presidency and security operatives to urgently stop harassment and killings of journalists in the country.
President of the Union, Waheed Odusile made the call in Gombe at the National Excutive Council Meeting of the union.
He stated that members of the unon will be forced to stage protest against the government.
Mr Odusile specifically tasked the presidency to call to order the head of its security that recently harassed a punch newspaper reporter, Olalekan Adetayo, noting that the federal government should sanction the Chief Security Officer who withdrew the accreditation of the reporter.
The NUJ president also stressed the need for security agencies especially the police to bring to book killers of a radio journalist, Famous Giobaro, who was recently murdered in Bayelsa state.
