Obaseki Gets Commendation From New York, Presidency

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has received encomiums both internationally
and from the presidency after commissioning Nigeria’s first pavilion at
the 57th Venice Art Biennale.
 
Applauding
him were Nigerian-born international journalist resident in the United
States of America, Tunji Lardner and Head of President Muhammadu
Buhari’s digital communication team, Tolu Ogunlesi, who, on Wednesday, sent commendation words to the governor for his achievements in office and promoting Nigeria internationally.
Mr Ogunlesi, a Nigerian journalist, poet, photographer, fiction writer,
blogger, one of Nigeria’s most active Twitter users, tweeted at Governor
Obaseki: “Thank you Governor. Mighty proud of what you are doing”.
This was in response to a tweet by the governor, on Wednesday
saying: “Yesterday, I commissioned Nigeria’s first ever pavillion at
the 57th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, which
was the first time Nigeria would have a pavilion at the historical art
biennale”.
 
With over 331,000
twitter followers, Mr Ogunlesi was appointed to the role of Special
Assistant on Digital/New Media by President Muhammadu Buhari on 18
February, 2016. 
Meanwhile, a
Nigerian journalist and adjunct professor at the Columbia University
School of Journalism resident in New York, Tunji Lardner said: “Your
Excellency, I throwey salute o! Well done so far… we hail Una o! God
bless.”
Mr Lardner, the
consultant for the United Nations on the Internet and the media in his
reply to Governor Obaseki’s response on the commendation also said: “God
bless and keep you and yours. We are proud of you and we are certain
that Edo state will be advanced in quantum leap forward under your
enlightened leadership”.
It
would be noted that Governor Obaseki had been growing increasingly
active on his social media accounts with Abike Dabiri among the eminent
Nigerians who have engaged the governor via social media.
