History has beckoned on the Department of Mass Communication, University of Benin as the University’s senate approved the proposed age-long separation of the department from the Theatre Arts, 13 years after it was created.
THE PRECISION gathered that the separation came on the 6th of July 2017.
Speaking with THE PRECISION, the Head of Department (HOD) of Mass Communication, Dr Ambrose Uchenunu expressed gratitude to God for making the vision a reality.
Dr Uchenunu also appreciated the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Faraday Orumwense and his management team for ensuring that the vision to separate Mass Communication Department from Theatre Arts Department becomes a reality.
“I am particularly grateful to the Vice Chancellor and his team for their support so far.
“I want to also mention that Professor John Sambe, one time head of Theatre Arts and Mass Communication has done perfectly well.
“The lecturers in the department have also contributed a lot towards achieving this feat, so we must thank them.
“Not forgetting also the students of the department and other stakeholders who had help to push for the vision to become a reality,” Uchenunu said.
The HOD also used the opportunity of his chat with THE PRECISION to solicit for office equipment and computer set for the new department from well meaning Nigerians as well as corporate bodies.
