An aspirant for the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State, Sir Chris Okey Enemuo, has been kidnapped. Sir Enemuo, who is aspiring for the plum job under the Labour Party (LP) platform, was abducted in Udi town in neighbouring Enugu State.
Enemuo, who picked his expression of interest form for the governorship election on July 28, was heading for Enugu State after addressing members of the Pentecostal Church in his country home of Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, when he was kidnapped.
Information has it that the former member of the House of Representatives left his personal assistant with some of his supporters, switched on car and left for Enugu behind the wheels.
News of his kidnap was broken to the family through a phone call by an unknown caller.
Speaking with News Express, the Chairman of Anambra Unite (AU), Chief Tony Chigbo, said that Enemuo left Ekwulobia arounf 6:00 p.m. and was kidnapped between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. yesterday.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Nkiru Nwode, could not be reached as at the time of filing this report to speak on the issue but a source in the command who spoke on the anonymity because he is not allowed to speak with the media confirmed that the report has been received at the station, adding investigations is already ongoing.
