In line with the Akeredolu administration’s commitment to delivering the much needed dividends of democracy to the good people of Ondo State, wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has charged the local government chairmen to make available improved healthcare services in their various areas.

Briefing the eighteen (18) local government council chairmen on some forthcoming activities of the office of the wife of the Governor, at the Multipurpose Hall, Alagbaka Government House Akure, Mrs. Akeredolu said that the health and wellbeing of Ondo people are so dear to this administration and that they would stop at nothing in delivering improved and quality healthcare to the citizens of the state at all levels.
Mrs. Akeredolu, a public health advocate, said: “We don’t have enough infrastructure. Government has to put down money for infrastructure to be accessible. Therefore in your primary healthcare centres, we should be able to have mammograms. If we do not have enough health officers, we should train, even those retired ones that are not tired. Yes, we should make sure that we keep training and retraining them so that they will have the know-how. That capacity building is needed so that in all the nooks and crannies of Ondo State, in all the villages, at least you can find a health worker that a woman can meet and say, ‘help me check.’ So, that person checking should be skilled enough,” she emphasized.

Mrs Akeredolu used the occasion to invite them to the forthcoming BRECAN twentieth anniversary and third Symposium slated for 18th to 21st October 2017 at the Dome.
Responding on behalf of the Chairmen, the chairman of Okitipupa LGA, Mrs Morenike Alaka, commended the First Lady for her laudable programmes which include: Solar for girls, ICT for girls, Summer Tennis Clinic, etc. and described them as impacting.
The chairman of Akure South LGA, Comrade Margaret Atere, and her counter parts from Ilaje and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo LGA in their different reactions scored Mrs Akeredolu pass mark and pledged to do everything humanly possible to support her in her good works in the State.
Also present at the briefing was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on women affairs, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi.
