Ondo
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro has charged the
Technical Working Group (TWG) for the State Strategic Health Development
Plan to make effective use of the National tool which will serve as a
guide for the development of the programme, in developing sustainable
and realistic plan for the State.

Adegbenro gave the charge in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, at the
opening ceremony of a Two- Day inauguration and sensitization meeting of
the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the State Strategic Health
Development Plan (SSHDP) II framework which is to span a period of
5years (2017-2021).

Dr.
Adegbenro emphasized that the second phase of the SSHDP which was first
developed in 2010 by the Federal government involving all the states
and ran for 5 years, is paramount at this period, as the Strategic
Health Plan will help strengthen the State’s health sector, empower the
ministry of health and it’s parastatals to reposition their
organizational and management systems to provide the strategic and
policy direction necessary for leadership and governance in health.

supporting the process with the engagement of consultants for the State

Health, Dr. Taiye Oni, noted that the Ondo State Strategic Health
Development Plan II will birth policies that will guide the actions and
activities of health professionals in the state for the next five
years.

Oni urged the participants to be conscious of the journey through the
MDGs years and be put into perspectives, the failures, successes,
lessons learnt and the missed opportunities, stressing that it is only
by doing this that the health professionals can successfully mainstream
the expectations of the SDGs into the State’s Strategic Health
Development Plan.
