Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari has expressed concern and investigation over the poor state of facilities at State House Medical Center.
The First Lady’s position comes about weeks after her Daughter, Zahra, went on Instagram to lambast the management of the Presidential clinic for not providing the required facilities befitting of a medical centre of that class.
Aisha Buhari who spoke on Monday at a reproductive health forum held at the state House in Abuja expressed regret that the state House medical House medical centre is not well equipped despite the huge budgetary provisions for the health facility.
The first lady said she was forced to use a foreign health facility in Abuja when she recently visited the state House clinic and discovered that some of its equipment had packed up.
She wondered what Nigerians are going through in public hospitals across the country when a clinic built to attend to the medical needs of the President and other senior government functionaries is lagging behind in state of the art equipment.
Permanent Secretary in the state House Jalal Alabi had in statement he issued last week said the management of the hospital among other things is seeking to commercialise the Presidential clinic to boost its revenue and augment the appropriation it receives from the government in the quest for a better qualitative service.
The State House medical centre provides services to the President, Vice-President and their families, aides, members of staff of the State House and other entitled public servants.
It is also a training facility for house officers and other medical personnel.
