Despite initial denial by the body, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has commenced preparations for election into the 30 local government areas in the state.
It will be recalled that when Speargist and a vernacular news website reported that Osun local government election had been fixed for December, 2017, OSIEC had dismissed the report, claiming it had no plan to conduct the poll.
However, OSIEC in radio announcement aired on a private radio station monitored in Osogbo on Monday directed political parties interested in participating in the local government election to visit the commission’s office beginning from Wednesday, October 4 for registration.
According to the commission, registration for the election will end by Monday, October 9.
