Ondo State Government has approved the closure of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo (RUGIPO) following students unrest in the institution. The Polytechnic will remain closed indefinitely.
This was contained in a statement issued by the commissioner for Information and Orientation Mr Yemi Olowolabi in Akure, Ondo State capital
The decision to close the institution was taken by the State Security Council which condemned the violent demonstration by the students which led to destruction of properties and facilities in the polytechnic.
The commissioner however called on Parents and Guardians to advise their wards who are students of the polytechnic to vacate the premises of the institution with immediate effect.
He assured the citizenry that government would continue to play its pivotal role of providing qualitative education in the state.
