The Federal Government has assured Nigerians in all parts of the country that it would not condone further attacks by herdsmen.

Minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) gave the
assurance on Monday at a meeting with some state governors in Abuja,
the nation’s capital.
He told the meeting that President Muhammadu Buhari remained committed to ensuring peace in every part of the country.
State governors present were Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abubakar Bello
(Niger), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Darius Ishaku (Taraba) and Mohammad
Jibrilla (Adamawa), among others.
The Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who was also at the
meeting, was worried about the increasing clashes between herdsmen and
farmers.

He, however, blamed criminally minded persons for taking the
advantage of conflicts between farmers and herdsmen to cause mayhem in
the country.
Ogbeh also faulted the past administration for having done nothing to protect the interest of herdsmen.
He further revealed the Federal Government’s plan to establish cattle
colonies to be protected by cattle rangers, as well as provide water,
pasture and security for such colonies. (Channels TV)
