A Federal lawmaker representing Akure South/North federal constituency,
Mr Afe Olowookere has enjoined old students of various schools to
facilitate developmental projects to their Alma maters.
Mr Olowookere spoke in Akure at the flag off of road construction and asphalt overlay at Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure (OGSA).
OGSA was the first community secondary school
in Akure Kingdom and was established in 1953, making it one of the
foremost secondary schools in Nigeria.
Over the years, infrastructure in the prestigious school like many
others across the country began to wear out, including the road network.
Worried by this trend, the lawmaker representing Akure South/North
federal constituency Mr Afe Olowookere who is also a 1979 set of OGSA decided to intervene.
The event attracted prominent indigenes of Akure and it is environ including old students of the college.
The Ondo state Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi commended the lawmaker for facilitating the intra school road project.
He said the lawmaker has given a good account of his representation.
The lawmaker, Afe Olowookere said the projects was to compliment government efforts to give schools in the State a facelift.
He maintained that the school project was aside his constituency projects.
Stakeholders; The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, the school
principal, S. T Ojo, a special Adviser to Governor Akeredolu on
public utilities, Tunji ‘Light Ariyomo and students commended the gesture and
urged other public office holders and old students to follow suit.
Work has begun on the 3 kilometer road and it is expected to be completed within six month.
