Ondo Govt Reacts To Increase Of Tuition In State-owned Institutions | The Precision

The Ondo state government has debunked claims of an alleged plan to
increase the tuition of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko from
N40, 000 to N200, 0000.

 

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Yemi
Olowolabi, who spoke while reacting to the students’ protest in Akure on
Monday, however stated that the tuition paid in the state-owned
institutions were no longer sustainable.

Olowolabi assured that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will not allow
any governing board of the institutions to force outrageous fees on the
students.
The government also declared its readiness to pay tertiary
institutions’ students of the state origin their outstanding bursary and
scholarship this year.
Olowolabi explained that funds meant to settle the student’s bursary
and scholarship have already been provided in this year’s budget.

The government spokesperson dismissed insinuations that the present
administration in the state was engaging in anti-people education
policies.
