Ondo state House of Assembly (ODHA) has directed all the nominees into the State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) to appear before its Committee on Selection and Screening.
The house give the directive at a plenary on Thursday presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun.
While the house did not give the exact date the nominees would be screened, it said the directive, was in response to the request from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde read at plenary by the Clerk, Bode Adeyelu.
The Majority leader, Olugbenga Araoyinbo who moved the motion that the nominees appear before the house and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Ogundeji Iroju said the move will hasten the constitution of a new electoral body for the upcoming council polls in the state.
Meanwhile, the house also commended the Buhari led administration for the release of the abducted Dapchi school girls.
It however called on security agents not to relent in ensuring that the remaining Chibok and Dapchi girls return safely to their families. (OrangeFM)
