A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state and an aspirant for the Akoko Southwest/Southeast federal constituency seat in the house of representatives, Mr Ade Adeogun has advised Nigerians to rise against rigging in the 2019 elections.
Adeogun said this in Akure on Thursday while featuring on a current affairs programme – ‘The Public Square’.
He urged Nigerians to shun all forms of financial inducements in the up coming elections.
The Oba-Akoko born security expert cited the worrisome poverty level in the country as one of the reasons why people collect money to vote for parties during elections.
The APC chieftain also described those receiving financial inducements to vote as ‘eating their future Pounded-Yam as ordinary Yam at Present’, while admonishing the citizens to open their eyes to the future prospects in a ‘free and fair’ electoral system, and make the sacrifices to achieve it.
He called on governments at all levels, non-governmental organizations, and major stakeholders to work together and build a truly independent and strong electoral institutions, that Nigerians can be proud to have.
