The Federal Government has set up a committee to review the technical and financial related aspects of the demands by the striking Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU).

The Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Lawrence Ojabo, on Monday said government took the decision to ameliorate the sufferings of patients.
“The Federal Government officials met on Sunday 22nd April 2018 to find ways of ending the ongoing strike by JOHESU. A committee was mandated to review the technical issues involved in the demands of JOHESU. The Federal Government side will continue its meeting on Monday and Tuesday,” Ojabo said.
He said that government continues to reassure members of the public that the Federal Government health facilities nationwide shall provide normal services and urged all employees to go about their duties peacefully as adequate security protection shall be ensured.
The health sector unions began the latest round of strikes following the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum served the federal government.
They accused the federal government of failing to honour the terms of agreements with the union at different fora since 2009 especially the agreement reached on the 30th of September, 2017 which had a time frame of five weeks. (DailyTrust)
