Why We Are Suspending Protest For Now – AAUA Students’ Union

Leaders of the students’ union after the meeting with Gov Akeredolu

Solidarity greetings from the students union to our ever loving, gallant, courageous and resolute students and comrades who are from different places, towns and cities shown their love towards ensuring that the students of this prestigious University and citadel of learning fights for what’s rightfully just.

We really want to appreciate the time, energy and most importantly the pain you have all went through during this struggle so far as your yearning towards protecting not only Your Own interest but the interest of your friends, family members and the future of our generations
We also want to appreciate the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)  for their astute leadership, tenacity and sagacity coupled with sheer courage in putting them all in ensuring that the welfare and protection of the Nigerian students are well served
The students union will likely want to appreciate our mothers, the market men and women who have despite the scorching sun and torrid environment troop out in their large numbers to stand up with the students in demonstrating peacefully ,you will definitely reap the fruits of your respective children
Articulate AAUAITES,  after today’s demonstration, the ondo state government deemed it fit and embrace dialogue with the leadership of the union
The students union president Comr OPTIMUM,  NANS ONDO AXIS chairman COMR RUGGED and a union leader COMR PASKER were invited by the governor in a meeting which lasted several hours
After the meeting, the ondo state government headed by the governor promised to review the government stand regarding the increment of the tuition fee in which he promised that the new tuition fee will be reduced drastically
We want to appeal to our entire students and comrades that the union has *PEND* further demonstration but not *SUSPENDING* it until the government do the needful and respond favorably to our demands
We want to state that on any account if the government deviate from their positive thoughts, we will have no other option than to go back to our lecture rooms which is the  streets of Akure in much larger numbers
