The Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN) has called on stakeholders to cater for the welfare of the aged and the widows.
Speaking at the 2018 Welfare Day organised by the Elder forum of the association in Akure, Ondo State, the President, Alhaja Aminat Akinpelumi said the occasion was to improve the welfare of the aged and particularly, the widows.
Akinpelumi, who was represented at the occasion by the State Chairman of Welfare and Humanitarian Services, Alhaja Rafat Momoh charged government at all levels to establish a committee to take charge of the welfare of the widows.
She said that the association cannot meet the welfare of the growing number of widows in the state whom she described had been disstabilised and had been emotionally affected due to their sudden state.
She urged Government to collaborate with relevant organisations , particularly women organisations to assist the widows saying that the challenges they face as single parent is beyond comprehension.
She also admonished other Muslim women on the need to abide by the Islamic tenants to express love to widows who may be lucky if their husband ask them for marriage.
This, she opined will address the Crisis that may come unfold if the situation is not addressed.
The lecturer at the occasion Alhaji Ajiboye Lagbaji advised widows to be hopeful unto God Almighty and not to approach their problems with another.
He observed the need for them to change their place of living to make it easier for them to get spouse and starting a good life.
Other women, he noted do not approve their husbands a second wife let not alone a widow forgetting that it is God who kills, which may happen to anybody.
Two personalities, the Imam of Police Officers Mess, Imam Taofik Akintola and the Chairman of the elders forum Alhaja Sidikat Ajibuwa.
In his reaction, Imam Akintola appreciated (FOMWAN) and challenged governornment in taking things rightly.
He called on government to care for the Muslim Community and to avoid neglecting the widows and the aged but to create a kind of packages for them.
