Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State and aspirant to the position of Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC may have clinched the seat even before the June 23 convention of the party.

This is as the outgoing National Chairman of APC, John Oyegun also a former governor of Edo State, who posed a threat to Oshiomhole dumped his re-election ambition Friday evening.
It was earlier reported that Oyegun would back out of the re-election bid following the endorsement of Oshiomhole by President Muhammadu Buhari and APC governors.
However, the incumbent APC National Chairman finally broke his prolonged silence Friday night, when he told journalists that he has formally withdrawn from the race.
“Even though I had the desire to re-contest as National chairman of the party, I have decided that it is ultimately in the best interest of the party for me to withdraw from the race”, Oyegun announced.
